Find a Data Product¶
Alation Cloud Service Applies to Alation Cloud Service instances of Alation
The Data Product Marketplace makes it easy for you to discover trusted, reusable data products and put them to use. This section explains how to search for products, understand what products you can view, request access, and start using the data.
To start using data product marketplace through Alation UI, contact Alation Support. Alation Support will enable the alation.feature_flags.DEV_enable_data_products feature flag upon request.
To find a data product, you can use the search functionality in the Data Product Marketplace.
Search and Browse the Marketplace¶
Go to the Alation home page.
Click the Data Product icon to go to Data Product App or use the navigation menu.
Use the search bar at the top of the marketplace page.
Enter a use case in natural language. The search doesn’t look for keywords but rather a semantic interpretation of what you need.
Filter by Marketplace, Tags, or Certifications (badges).
Look for badges like:
AI Ready
Has Sample Data
Meets Quality Standards
Note
Badges are unique to a marketplace. They are defined by the marketplace owner.
Note
Products that fail to meet the minimum marketplace standards won’t appear in search.
View Marketplace Standards¶
To see what it takes for a product to appear in the current marketplace:
Go to Data Product App > Manage Marketplace.
Click Edit Marketplace.
Review the YAML file with minimum listing requirements and certification badges.
This helps you understand what makes products trustworthy or high-quality in this environment.
Provide Feedback on Search Results¶
If you can’t find what you need, perform the following steps:
Scroll to the bottom of the search results page.
Click the Didn’t find what you need? button.
Fill in the feedback form:
Describe the type of data you were looking for
Optionally, add how you intended to use it
This feedback goes to the marketplace and product owners to help them improve the marketplace content.
