Enable Table-Level Privacy¶
Alation Cloud Service Applies to Alation Cloud Service instances of Alation
Available from version 2026.7.0.0
Starting with version 2026.7.0.0, Server Admins on Alation Cloud Service can enable table-level privacy controls directly from Admin Settings > Feature Configuration without requiring a Support ticket.
When enabled, a Settings page becomes available on table catalog pages, where you can configure privacy modes and assign permission levels to users and groups.
This feature builds on the Enable Editor Role and Schema Permissions feature to provide complete granular permissions across your data catalog hierarchy: Data Source > Schema > Table.
Prerequisites¶
You are logged in with a Server Admin role.
For the complete AAC experience, enable Enable Editor Role and Schema Permissions first (also in Feature Configuration).
Enable Table-Level Privacy¶
Log in to Alation as a Server Admin.
Click the Settings icon in the upper right to open Admin Settings.
Under Server Admin, click Feature Configuration.
Locate Enable Table-Level Privacy in the feature list.
Toggle the feature to the on position.
Click Save changes and confirm in the dialog.
Note
No service restart is required.
This feature can be safely toggled on and off as needed.
A page refresh occurs automatically after enabling to reflect the new table Settings pages.
After Enabling¶
Once the feature is enabled, configure privacy modes and permissions on individual tables using the Settings tab on each table’s catalog page. For detailed instructions, see:
