About Alamigo¶

Alamigo is Alation’s intelligent in-product support guide designed to help you get instant, trusted answers without leaving the product. It assists admins with setup, troubleshooting, and everyday tasks by drawing on official Alation documentation and internal knowledge. Alamigo does not use your data to generate responses — all interactions are secure, encrypted, and privacy-first.

What can Alamigo do?¶

Answer questions about Alation features, setup, and troubleshooting.
Provide instant, context-relevant guidance without leaving the product.
Help Server, Catalog, and Source Admins complete common tasks faster.
Share links to official Alation documentation and related articles.
Explain concepts, configuration steps, and best practices clearly and concisely.

Where can I find Alamigo?¶

Alamigo can be opened by clicking the chat icon in the bottom-right corner of your Alation screen.

Who can use Alamigo?¶

Alamigo is available to all Server, Catalog, and Source Admins in your account.

Is Alamigo always on? How do I turn it off?¶

Yes, Alamigo is enabled by default. Admins can turn it off or back on anytime from Admin Settings → Feature Configuration by toggling the option: Enable Alamigo — Enables Alamigo for in-product assistance in the new user interface.

Does Alamigo learn from my data?¶

No. Alamigo does not use your customer data to generate answers. Responses are produced only from Alation’s official documentation and curated internal knowledge sources.

Is my data safe when I use Alamigo?¶

Yes. All interactions are securely encrypted and handled in accordance with Alation’s data-protection policies. No user data is stored or used for AI model training.

Can Alamigo personalize answers?¶

Not yet. Alamigo currently provides general help, not tailored guidance based on your account or page context. Personalization features are planned for a future update.

What if Alamigo gives an incorrect answer?¶

Since Alamigo uses generative technology, some responses may occasionally be incomplete or imperfect. We continuously update the underlying knowledge sources to improve accuracy and completeness.
