Alation Cloud Service Applies to Alation Cloud Service instances of Alation

On Alation Cloud Service, the Logging tab lets you download audit logs from the past 15 days. Use these logs to track user activity and troubleshoot issues.

Note

Only audit logs are available for download on Alation Cloud Service. Alation Support can also review additional log types on their end to help resolve an issue. To request other logs or ask questions about logging, contact Alation Support.

Download Audit Logs

To download audit logs:

  1. Go to Admin Settings > Logging.

  2. In the date picker, select the time period for the logs you want to download. Audit logs are available for the past 15 days.

  3. Click Prepare to collect and package the audit logs. Preparation can take up to 5 minutes for larger date ranges.

  4. Click Download to download the logs package to your machine.

Important

Downloaded audit logs are unencrypted by default. You can enable encryption, but this renders the logs unreadable and is not recommended. For details, see Configure Encryption for Downloadable Logs.
