Prerequisites

Alation Cloud Service Applies to Alation Cloud Service instances of Alation

Customer Managed Applies to customer-managed instances of Alation

Enhanced Connector Enhanced connectors add extended capabilities and require a separate entitlement in addition to your Alation platform license.

Before you configure the Microsoft SSIS OCF Connector, ensure that you complete the prerequisites below.

Project Deployment Model

Your SSIS projects must be deployed to the SSIS Catalog (SSISDB) using the Project Deployment Model. The connector does not support the legacy Package Deployment Model and cannot access packages stored as individual .dtsx files on a file system.

Create a Service Account

The connector requires a dedicated Windows service account that uses Windows Authentication. Follow these steps to create the account and assign the required permissions:

  1. Create a service account that uses Windows Authentication.

  2. Grant the account the public server role.

  3. Add the account to the list of SSISDB database users.

  4. Add the account to the ssis_admin and ssis_logreader database roles within SSISDB.

  5. Update the ssis_admin role, granting it ownership of the SSISDB.catalog and SSISDB.internal schemas.

Prerequisites for Cross-Source Lineage

The connector builds lineage for SSIS packages that use Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases as their sources and destinations. For Alation to display this lineage, the corresponding Alation SQL Server Connector and/or Alation Oracle Connector must be installed, and a successful metadata extraction (MDE) must have been run for the relevant database assets, before you run MDE on the SSIS data source. For the full configuration steps, see Configure Cross-Source Lineage.
