Configure Metadata Extraction¶

Customer Managed Applies to customer-managed instances of Alation
Enhanced Connector Enhanced connectors add extended capabilities and require a separate entitlement in addition to your Alation platform license.
This section describes metadata extraction (MDE) options supported by the Purview File enhanced connector.
Supported Extraction Types¶
You can perform the following extraction types:
Default extraction — Uses default extraction queries built into the connector.
Selective extraction — Extracts a subset of metadata using filters (for example, limiting extraction by folders or files).
Full extraction — Extracts metadata across all Purview File folders and files accessible to the configured service account.
Run Metadata Extraction¶
Open the Settings page of your Purview File source.
Go to the Metadata Extraction tab.
Choose the extraction type:
Use Default extraction for standard cataloging.
Use Selective extraction to limit the scope of extraction. Configure the available filters (for example, folder or file filters).
Use Full extraction if you want to extract all accessible folders and files.
Click Run Extraction.
